Individual therapy for depression, anxiety, PTSD, codependency, and substance abuse.

With everything going on in the world, things can often feel stressful. I imagine you might relate. When I feel stressed, what helps me is to remember that I am a pebble in the pond, sending ripples of healing into the world. My being a therapist is my ripple effect: when I help a client to heal or shift something in their lives, they show up more effectively in the world, sending out their own ripples. Those ripples then continue out, exponentially growing and affecting the world in ways I never could’ve imagined.  It reminds me that the work I do has a far bigger impact than I can ever know. In this way, I can feel content knowing that I have a far-reaching effect on the world. I can’t do everything; but this, I can do.

See additional types of therapy I offer on my Services page.

Call or email me to schedule a free, 15-min phone consultation to see if I might be a good fit for your needs.

Modalities

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. Created by Francine Shapiro.

Emotional freedom technique (EFT)

Energy Healing through Meridian Tapping: learn to reduce symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, and emotional pain. Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure.

Similar to acupuncture, EFT focuses on the meridian points — or energy hot spots — to restore balance to your body’s energy. It’s believed that restoring this energy balance can relieve symptoms a negative experience or emotion may have caused.

Proponents say the tapping helps you access your body’s energy and send signals to the part of the brain that controls stress. They claim that stimulating the meridian points through EFT tapping can reduce the stress or negative emotion you feel from your issue, ultimately restoring balance to your disrupted energy

Motivational interviewing (MI)

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach developed in part by clinical psychologists William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnick. It is a directive, client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavior change by helping clients to explore and resolve ambivalence.

Seeking Safety

Seeking Safety is a present-focused therapy that helps clients attain safety from trauma (including PTSD) and substance abuse by emphasizing coping skills, grounding techniques, and education. Developed under a grant from the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) by Lisa M. Najavits
